How to create packages/sets for sale?

Modified on Tue, 26 Sep, 2023 at 11:28 AM

In Quick3, you can connect/put together several items that are part of a package or a set. There are various ways to connect these together, so that the pricing of the set is as desired.

Here we show two different ways to create a package or set. Both methods use item connections and you should create a new item for the set item itself.

In Quick3, we have two different item connection types that can be used. It is the item connection type Set and Contains. We will explain the difference between these in more details in this article.

To illustrate as best as possible, we have used the same items to create two different packages. One package where the items are connected together with the item connection type set, and one package where the items are connected together with the item connection type contains.

As an example, we would like to put together a driving set of clothes, where customers can easily acquire riding equipment for motorbikes where the package consists of 5 items.

The package consists of:

  • Jacket
  • Pants
  • Helmet
  • Boots
  • Gloves

We create a new and separate item for the package item itself.

When we work with the package item, we go to the tab called "Item connections" and add the items that the package should consist of.

In this example, we have created two package items, where the contents are the same. But where we use the two different item connection types on each.

As you can see, it is mainly the price of these two packages that is different.

In the sections below, we explain in more detail the use of the two different types of item connection.

Package using the item connection type "Set":

By using the item link type Set, the price of the package will be calculated based on the total price of all the items that make up the package/set. You may not set an optional price on the package. With the help of an automatic job, you can also set up so that the set price is updated automatically. So that the package always has an updated price, regardless of whether one of the items in the set gets a price change.

Proceed like this:

  1. Create a new and separate item for the set item itself.
  2. Go to the tab called "Item Connections" and add the items that the set will consist of
  3. Select connection type SET
  4. Then go to the hamburger menu inside the Item connection tab and select "Calculate set price"

By selecting "Calculate set price" you will see that the price of the package item itself changes. It then adds up the price of all the items that make up the set. The package now costs the same as the total of all these items.

Calculate set prices automatically:

You can set up a "Scheduled Job", which calculates the set price automatically at a specific time interval. Then all packages that are connected as "Set" will update their prices automatically if one of the set items gets a price change.

Package using the item connection type "Contains":

By using the connection type Contains, you can decide yourself how much the package/set should cost, regardless of what the contents of the set cost. The turnover will then be distributed as a percentage beyond the items that make up the set.

Proceed like this:

  1. Create a new and separate item for the set item itself.
  2. Go to the tab called "Item Connections" and add the items that the set will consist of.
  3. Select connection type CONTAINS.
  4. Then set a separate price for the package.

When these packages are added to the basket, the turnover will be distributed as a percentage of the items that make up the sets.
